Over the years, Israel has developed a flourishing film industry, acknowledged by the most prestigious international film festivals around the world. The films created by Israeli filmmakers are innovative, challenging and fascinating, capturing the attention of critics and audiences throughout the world.
In recent decades, the Israeli film industry has been growing steadily, with more than 5 million people worldwide watching Israeli films every year. This growth is the achievement of the Israel Cinema Law and the five public funds working together to form a sustainable, creative, and vibrant Israeli film industry.
The Ministry of Culture encourages diverse Israeli cinema by supporting the film funds and public institutions.
The funds finance and support high quality and original Israeli films. The five funds invest in feature films, documentaries and shorts, from the project development stage, through the production, and to completion, according to criteria of diversity, cinematic and personal expression, originality and feasibility, as well as considerations of audience appeal and commercial success.
International co-productions are a mainstay of the Israel film industry, creating creative and financial cooperation and partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships between Israel and varied film industries from around the world.
The Israel Film Fund, established in 1979, supports the production of Israeli feature films. The Fund’s goal is to enable the best stories and scripts to be produced and to create the conditions for Israeli filmmakers to bring their vision and talent to the screen. The Fund facilitates the development, production, co-production, marketing, promotion and distribution of full length Israeli Feature Films in Israel and worldwide.
The Israel Film Fund is proud to operate the Films From Israel Stand at TIFF 2021.
